Girls Protection Programme

We set up the girls’ protection programme in order to provide extra support to some of the most vulnerable girls in the local area. All of them live in extreme poverty, many have been neglected and some have also been abused. The environment where they live is very unsafe; unemployment is high and there are many social problems such as drug and alcohol addiction and general lawlessness. The parents/guardians are often unable to look after the children during the day, so they are left on their own. Sadly many girls are easy prey for criminals and sexual abusers.

The protection programme gives them a safe, supervised place to spend their days during the holidays and after school. We have employed a very caring and capable lady to look after the girls, so she can constantly monitor their progress and wellbeing, as well as teaching them about basic hygiene etc. We provide toys, books and other activities and there is also an enclosed compound where they can play safely. We also give them clothes and toiletries which makes an enormous difference to their lives.

The support we receive is very much appreciated and without it we would be unable to continue this much needed and very worthwhile programme.

£20 a month provides a place for on the programme for a child. This includes their food, water, some clothing, toiletries, activities, toys and more. If you sponsor a girl, you will receive regular updates and photos.
